Two Become One: Inauguration at Ibbenbüren Hospital
On 19 November 2020, Elisabeth Day, inauguration of the new building for unifying Ibbenbüren Hospital took place in the smallest circle of hospital attendees. In December the relocations to the new building will follow, so that the merger of the previous two locations of Ibbenbüren Hospital will be completed and Bodelschwingh Hospital will be able to close its doors at the end of the year. The original plan was to have an Open Doors Day to mark the inauguration, but unfortunately this had to be cancelled due to the current Corona situation.
The new extension to the existing building at the site of St. Elisabeth Hospital and the extensive restructuring of the existing building will unite the hospital’s two previous sites into one, thereby significantly optimising patient care and improving the quality of accommodation.
The aim of the planning was to create economic ward sizes in particular and to locate the high-care areas of inner intensive care and the respiratory intensive care unit on one level with the existing operating theatre and the surgical intensive care unit. The modern and friendly ambience of the existing building was extended to the new building for optimised, sustainable hospital operation with a high amenity value for patients and staff.
Ibbenbüren Hospital has had a short film produced that can be viewed on YouTube in order offer insight into the new hospital despite the current situation.
